Job Overview

Graceful Day Home Care is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Respite Caregiver for a full-time temporary assignment in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA . This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely loves working with children and has experience supporting individuals with disabilities.

This position requires a reliable individual who can provide consistent, structured, and high-quality care for a child with special needs in the home setting.

Job Summary

The caregiver will provide direct, one-on-one support for a child with disabilities, ensuring safety, engagement, and emotional support. This position is Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day , and continues until August 31st . We're looking for someone with a strong background in child care, particularly with individuals with developmental or behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and companionship for a child with disabilities
• Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities
• Support emotional, physical, and behavioral needs with patience and consistency
• Maintain a structured routine that supports the child’s comfort and growth
• Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress and daily updates
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment

Qualifications

• Experience in Working with people with disabilities or special needs
• Must genuinely enjoy working with kids
• Experience in the following roles is a plus :
• Behavioral Interventionist (BI) is a plus
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist is a plus
• Direct Support Staff is a plus
• Understanding of sensory processing needs, communication techniques, and behavioral strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, patient, and confident when handling challenging situations

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Reliable transportation
• Negative TB test (current)
• CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
• Available to work full shifts Monday–Thursday through August 31st
