Job Overview:


Job Title: Professional Arborist
Location: Traverse City, MI
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: 40+ hours per week, Monday–Friday

Job Summary:

Brothers Tree Service is seeking a Professional Arborist to join our experienced and respected team. This position involves all aspects of professional tree care, including tree removal, pruning, and equipment operation. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and either possesses a CDL or is willing to obtain one within a reasonable time frame. You’ll be part of a knowledgeable, loyal crew dedicated to industry best practices and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely perform tree removals, structural pruning, crown thinning, and deadwood removal
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including:
    • Mini loaders
    • Skid steers
    • Chippers
    • Aerial platforms (bucket trucks)
    • Stump grinders
    • CDL Required trucks
  • Utilize rigging and climbing techniques for safe and efficient tree work
  • Maintain and inspect equipment for safety and performance
  • Assist with job site cleanup and debris handling
  • Communicate clearly with team members and follow safety protocols on all job sites
  • Represent the company professionally with clients and the public

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in tree care or a related field
  • CDL Class A/B (preferred) or willingness to obtain CDL within 6–12 months
  • Strong working knowledge of proper pruning techniques and tree removal methods
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
  • Proficient in the safe operation of arborist tools and machinery
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs
  • Comfortable climbing, bending, and working overhead for extended periods
  • Able to work in physically demanding outdoor environments year-round
