**Job Title: Pediatric Advisor**

**Position Overview:**
This position is contingent upon contract award. Under the guidance of the National Medical Director and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Pediatric Advisor will provide healthcare services to children in custody, adhering to established policies and protocols. The Pediatric Advisor will play a vital role in the administrative functions that impact medical services and will work closely with the management team to ensure the effective planning and execution of program directives.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Serve as the on-site pediatric medical authority, providing supervision, oversight, and consultation for pediatric medical services at CBP sites, including ports of entry and Border Patrol stations.
- Foster a caring and supportive environment when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Offer pediatric medical direction and guidance for advanced practice providers, ensuring quality care delivery, including mental health support when necessary.
- Provide on-call pediatric coverage for assigned medical units, ensuring availability 24/7.
- Develop and coordinate all aspects of pediatric healthcare delivery at assigned facilities, including direct patient care as needed.
- Conduct age-appropriate screenings, treatments, and patient education for acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
- Review and coordinate referrals to specialty services, ensuring appropriate follow-up and quality management.
- Respond to medical emergencies and sentinel events, collaborating with medical leadership as needed.
- Participate in national and local medical quality management committees, focusing on pediatric care improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
**Qualifications:**
**Education/Training:**
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Pediatrics by an approved board is required.
**Licensure/Certification:**
- Current, valid, and unencumbered medical license in the United States.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved organization, with renewal prior to expiration.
**Experience:**
- Completion of residency training in an accredited program.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an attending or independently practicing physician in a pediatric care setting.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
- Expert knowledge of pediatric clinical practices and standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and other relevant software.
- Understanding of healthcare delivery systems and the unique needs of pediatric populations.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and maintain a positive rapport with patients and families.
**Additional Information:**
This role may require travel to various medical units and participation in staff meetings and quality management initiatives. The Pediatric Advisor will be expected to maintain a safe and clean working environment and assist in the disposal of hazardous waste as necessary.
