Job Description

Adelphi is seeking qualified professionals to provide Orientation and Mobility Services to students in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) at a school in Mission, Texas. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to assist students with visual impairments in navigating their educational environment safely and independently.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility.
• Certification from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).
• Proven experience working with K-12 students in a public-school setting.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and indirect support for students with visual impairments, following their IEPs.
• Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs and develop tailored training plans.
• Teach students to navigate the school environment, using adaptive techniques and assistive technology.
• Monitor student progress and adjust mobility training strategies as necessary.
• Collaborate with school staff, including teachers and administrators, to meet students' needs.
• Attend and participate in ARD meetings and provide updates on student progress.
• Maintain logs of services provided and submit progress reports.
• Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs, evaluations, and reports using the SuccessED system.
• Provide recommendations for mobility equipment if applicable.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws related to special education services.
• Complete SHARS billing for each student, as applicable.
• Any other duties as assigned.
