Your Specific Responsibilities:

  1. According to DHM 150-24, the FL Wise System Guide, agency policies, and supervisor’s instructions provides nutrition services to WIC clients. Uses FL Wise to facilitate services to WIC clients. Certifies/recertifies women, infants and children to participate in the WIC program. Provides nutrition assessment and counseling for WIC clients. Develops and implements a nutrition care plan appropriate for each client.
  2. Issues WIC benefits and directly distributed formulas according to DHM 150-24, the FL Wise System Guide and local procedures. Maintains necessary inventories and follows security procedures.
  3. Performs hemoglobin testing and height/length/weight measurements for WIC clients as needed
  4. Follows Personnel Rules and regulations and supervisor’s instructions relating to attendance on the job, observation of lunch and break times, usage of sick leave, annual leave or personal holiday, and all other applicable tasks and behaviors. Completes required documents that show the expenditure of work time, and the tasks performed and submits to supervisor as requested. Completes required forms (EARS, People First) for documentation of activities.
  5. Attends meetings, and follows DOH rules and regulations, and performs other related duties as required according to agency policy and supervisor’s instructions. Provides nutrition in-service to support staff as assigned. Conducts community outreach for WIC activities as assigned.
  6. Conducts assigned WIC inventories.
  7. Other duties as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to use a computer, printer and calculator.
  • Ability to use program related computer software.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform anthropometric and hemoglobin tests for WIC clients using appropriate biohazard, safety and WIC procedures

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from an accredited college or university as required by the Florida state WIC program. 
  • Licensed dietitian/nutritionist in accordance with requirements outlined in Chapter 468, Part X, Florida Statues, or eligible to practice dietetics in accordance with Chapter 64B8-40 to 45, Florida Administrative Code.
  • Driver’s license and transportation

 

Preferred –

  • Prior WIC experience
