Job Description

Solar Impact is looking for a strong leader with 5 years of prior solar and/or electrical and supervisory experience who shares our Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to safety. The Lead Solar Installer works with and supervises their team from the start of installation to the point of substantial completion (before interconnection). This position reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for crew supervision, accurate and timely solar and electric installs, inspections, commissioning reports, and tool/vehicle care. Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe work environment, following Solar Impact and OSHA-required safety protocols at all times
  • Lead team of installers in assembling all components of solar installation, including job prep, roof layout, racking and roof attachments, wiring and conduit assembly, string layout
  • Communicate project status, including any issues, to the Superintendent and Project Manager on a real-time basis
  • Provide training as needed to crew members
  • Review team time entries at least twice weekly for correct hours, roof time, class code, and scheduled breaks. Make sure all corrections are entered by the team by Friday of each week
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work site, and ensure that Solar Impact tools and materials are securely stored when not in use
  • Keep the team vehicle stocked, organized, clean, fueled, and log books up to date. Report any mechanical issues to the Superintendent or Project Manager immediately
  • Perform vehicle tool/safety equipment inventory and submit to accounting at least monthly
  • Ensure all job materials are properly checked out and returned to stock following Solar Impact’s Materials Management process
  • Complete a post-installation report to determine areas for efficiency improvement
Qualifications: Required
  • 2+ years of solar or electrical experience
  • Must be an excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the NEC
  • Ability to read solar installation plans
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to pass a background/MVR check and pre-employment physical/drug screen
  • Must have a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks concurrently
  • Proficiency with computers is required
  • OSHA 10-hour training will be required
  • Night and weekend availability occasionally required to meet project needs
  • Overnight travel may be required for out-of-town projects
  • 5+ years of solar experience and familiarity with MAC / iOS preferredParticipate in Electrical Apprentice Program
  • Participation in the Electrical Apprentice Program is encouraged
