Interim Chief Ambulatory Officer
Location: Major Acute Care Hospital | California
Assignment Type: Interim (Full-Time, On-Site Preferred)
Start: ASAP | Duration: 3–6 Months (with potential extension)
Are you a seasoned ambulatory leader ready to step into a high-impact interim role at a large, mission-driven hospital in California? This organization is navigating a period of transformational change and seeks a strategic, hands-on Interim Chief Ambulatory Officer (CAO) to stabilize and elevate operations across a broad ambulatory footprint.
This is more than a stopgap assignment — it’s an opportunity to drive meaningful improvements in access, patient flow, clinic performance, and system alignment.
What You’ll DoAs Interim CAO, you’ll report directly to the COO and work cross-functionally to:
Lead and support multiple ambulatory service lines, including specialty and primary care clinics.
Improve care coordination, operational efficiency, and throughput across the ambulatory enterprise.
Partner with physician leadership and nursing to elevate performance, culture, and outcomes.
Assess current structures and processes, recommending and implementing key improvements.
Mentor and empower director-level clinic leaders and frontline teams.
Contribute to strategic decisions that support both short-term stability and long-term growth.
