Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Avenal, CA! **Schedule** : Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with the possibility of working every other Saturday from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM (overtime hours as needed). **Compensation** : Starting pay is $22-$26 per hour, based on experience. Our commitment to running a successful, growing business creates endless opportunities for career advancement and a culture that values happy, motivated team members. **Duties and Responsibilities** : + Operate Dozer, Excavator, and Loader to manage waste and debris + Move and grade soil as needed to maintain site operations + Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment + Provide assistance to customers and team members as required + Responsibly operate a company vehicle for parts running as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials. **Working Conditions** : + Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain. + The position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. + The environment may be dusty, noisy, and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots. + There will be exposure to machinery and heavy equipment, so safety protocols and precautions are strictly followed. **Minimum Job Requirements** : + 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience + Ability to work both independently and as part of a team + Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted + Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen + Valid driver's license with clean record + Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements, physical labor, and a dynamic work environment.
