CNC Machine Operator/Setup

Are you a CNC Operator with Citizen machine programming and setup experience?  If so, we have an exciting opportunity that involves “hands-on” support for our Cryogenics, Quantum Computing and Test and Measurement markets.

The Phoenix Company of Chicago, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated CNC Operator to support our Swiss Machine Shop in setting up all types of Swiss Screw machines to perform a series of machining operations.  This individual will study blueprint and layout sheets to determine machining to be done, dimensions of parts and permissible tolerances, and plans a sequence of operations.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be a Trade School graduate or equivalent experience and skills with emphasis on manufacturing or similar major.  This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience setting up and operating Swiss type machines. Familiarity with GD&T principles is highly desirable.  In addition, experience musty include the ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, etc.) to verify mechanical part compliance and experience reading blueprint drawings to very part dimensions against drawing requirements.  Visual acuity and adequate manual dexterity are essential for identifying visual defects on small piece parts and good communication skills to effectively communicate any nonconformance. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for loading and transporting material into machines. 

Key Responsibilities:

Program, setup and operate CNC Screw machines to include Citizen M-32, L-16, L-20, B-12 and Robodrill machines.

• Loads material into machines and checks parts to blueprints.
• Minor repairs on machine.
• Maintains tooling for specific jobs.
• Read all types of measuring equipment.
• Read and understand tool layout.
• Preventative maintenance on machines.          
• Inspects products, components, and parts involving the use of all types of visual, mechanical, or electrical inspection devices and equipment. Pays close attention to detail to ensure conformance of products.
