Associate, Public Finance

About the Job:

We are seeking an Associate to join the Public Finance practice in our Washington D.C. office. This dynamic role is ideal for an attorney with two or more years of experience and an interest in developing their knowledge and skills in public finance transactions while working closely with experienced partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft loan documents
  • Coordinate closings
  • Review, draft and manage transaction due diligence
  • Review, draft and negotiate transaction documents
  • Conduct transaction closings
  • Review and draft organizational and authorizing documents
  • Ensure that appropriate approvals are in place before transactions are executed
  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations in relevant areas of the law
  • Commitment to achieving the goals of Firm clients

QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and/or ability to analyze state and federal laws governing transactions
  • Proficiency in asset-based finance and real estate finance transactions
  • Understanding of various business and governmental entities
  • Strong organizational and matter management skills
  • Work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and possess a high attention to detail
  • Work professionally and collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic
  • Ability and confidence to work independently while thriving in a high-pace, collaborative, team environment
  • Strong desire to learn and develop superior drafting and negotiating skills

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience

  • Must be currently admitted to practice in the District of Columbia with an active bar license in good standing or able to be admitted within the first year of employment
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with state or local government finance departments, investment banks and institutional lenders, or other providers of capital in connection with tax-exempt financings a plus.
